Interior Secretary

The U.S. Department of the Interior established on March 3rd, 1849 (167 years ago) is responsible for the management and oversight of federal lands and natural resources. It oversees multiple agencies such as the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. The Secretary has the power to appoint private citizens to the National Park Foundation board and is a member of the President's cabinet being eighth in line for the Presidency.

Ryan Zinke is an American politician who served as a U.S. representative for Montana's at large district from 2015-2017. From 1986 to 2008 he was US Navy Seal retiring as a commander. He is the first Navy Seal to serve as a US Representative.

President-Elect Trump (Now President) nominated Zinke for the position in December and he was later confirmed on March 1, 2017, being the first Navy Seal to be a member of the Presidential Cabinet. The Senate confirmed him with a 68-31 vote unlike Trump's other picks where the gap of votes were narrow.
Zinke is less controversial compared to Trump's other picks. He calls himself a "Teddy Roosevelt" Republican who wants to utilize public lands for many uses. He views climate change as a threat to the environment, however his exact view is considered muddled, and would like to revisit various decisions made by the Obama administrations regarding environmental regulations.
Many Republicans and Democrats see this pick hopeful for America's future. A part of our potential future success lies in his hand and hopefully he can utilize it for our benefit.
